Perseus Cluster Wide Field

Astrophotography of Perseus Cluster Wide Field captured by Tony Brown

After many days of frustratingly wet, grey skies and a relentless full moon, I finally found myself under the stars, peering through my trusty 135mm f2 Samyang lens. While panning the sky with the Framing Wizard, I stumbled upon an intriguing tapestry of celestial wonders in a small corner of the constellation Perseus. With no singular breathtaking giant to steal the show, this area offered a delightful mosaic of cosmic beauties. Among the bright stars, 47 Per and 43 Per twinkled like diamonds, alongside the captivating lambda Per (λ Per). The delicate wisps of the NGC 1491 nebula added a splash of ethereal light to the scene. The open cluster NGC 1528 sparkled like a miniature gemstone collection, each star dangling delicately in the velvet sky. It might have been a side project, but capturing this image over two nights was immensely rewarding, offering a miniature kingdom of celestial wonders waiting to be explored, all brought to life when the weather finally gave me a break.
