The Whole Veil

Astrophotography of The Whole Veil captured by Tony Brown

In this captivating wide-field image, I had the pleasure of unveiling the spectacular tapestry of the Veil Nebula, a stunning remnant of a supernova that exploded roughly 8,000 years ago. Capturing this celestial expanse in November with my Samyang 135mm lens, I felt like I'd unlocked a cosmic treasure chest filled with vivid reds and electric blues dancing across the night sky. The Veil Nebula spans across the sky in Cygnus, offering a peek into the vastness of the universe with its intricate structures like the Witch’s Broom (NGC 6960) and the Network Nebula (NGC 6992 and NGC 6995), where you can almost sense the cosmic winds blowing. My recent post-processing adventure refreshed this image, as I couldn't resist digging deeper into its rich details. Encircled by brilliant stars such as 52 Cygni and 49 Cygni, this celestial garden is brimming with intricate star clusters and nebulae, each telling their own ancient story. With so much beauty to absorb, it's challenging to bid farewell to Cygnus for the season, knowing that its secrets beckon anew every time you delve deeper into its starry confines.
